The first thing to check would be the cable leading to the fuel gauge. Then if that is ok, then you should look at the fuel sending unit that is inside the tank. It has a float, kind of like a toilet, that sends the fluid level to the gauge. Most GM vehicles have fuel system-related problems and it sounds like this is no exception. Good luck!!

Just make sure your gas is filled up. If it continue to flip all over then take it back to the dealer and see if its under warranty. If not then pay for it to have it fixed. It could be many problems with the gas gauge. I can't honestly tell you that its the gas gauge or something else. Just take it to the shop. Or you can just fill up your tank every two days.

No, I don't think it's broken. Some gas gauges read by a thing that floats in the tank, and sudden stops or turns, uphill or downhill can make it go crazy, it has happened to me before. OR so, that's what I have been told....

Depends on the car. I've had a cooling sensor go bad that effected fuel readings. Auto Zone, with deposit, will let you use
a code reader that may diagnose the problem. You just plug into a reciprocal under your dash.

Good luck

I believe there is a float thing in the gas tank that guides the fluctuations in the gauge. THAT may need replacing.

Not Necessarily. It could be the float in your gas tank with the problem. I would first check with your dealer or a mechanic before worrying. It may be a simple problem.

Probably the control from the computer or the anti-slosh card. Take it to the dealer...you may find that they have a recall on it. Don't take any crap from them, it's a factory defect and they are responsible for fixing it.
