Leave luck to heaven is the meaning of Nintendo. Or leave it in heaven's hands. Nintendo originally made playing cards more than 100 years ago. So, you can see how the name about luck fits into its original business.

It's japanese and when they started the company in 1889 they named it after a card game they were making cards for, because origionally they made playing cards. Nintendo was a japanese card game at the time (still is maybe I dont know)

there is actuaaly a motto for that. Nintendo means "we do what we can, the best that we can, and await the results." Odd i know, but true all the same.

Because it sounds similar to the word "innuendo" and they thought that people would subconsciously link the two words and therefore buy more stuff from that company.
