Keep applying to as many places as you can. Only apply at stores that you would like to shop at though. It will make things a lot easier. I know because I briefly worked at a store that I didn't shop at regularly and I hated the job. The next job I worked at a store that I shopped at all the time, and things went very well there.

It's hard to tell if you will get the job just from the interview. Most interviewers appear nice and friendly to everyone, so it's hard to tell if they like you. Make sure that you express an interest in the store and tell them that you like the store a lot and are familiar with the merchandise.

Also, ask the employees in the store (not the managers) what kind of people they like to hire and see if they can give you any tips.

Definitely give them a call after a week or so and send a thank-you note the same day of the interview. They could be very busy, and just need to be reminded of you.

Interviews almost always go well. Often, the only way to get jobs today is through connections. Go to a store you frequent, and try to get a job there. If that doesn't help, try going to a professional resume writer, they might be able to make you look better on paper.
More education or classes could open opportunites.
Ultimately, if all else fails, go with fast food. Most restaurants are always hiring.

Sometimes they want to see that you are a go-getter....give them no less than a week, than call & express your continued interest. I assume you are dressed well, articulate, and not full of tattoos/piercings?
