'casue it's really not, that's only one category - it's usually referred to as 'hentai' which is the japanese word for pervert. it's really annoying 'cause whenever I talk to anyone about it, they automatically think I'm dirty - IT'S REALLY ANNOYING! I guess people are just really ill informed..

Role playing is basically pretending to be someone else.
It is a valuable psychological tool, acting exercise, etc.
There are also role-play games like the classic Dungeons and Dragons.
Yes, it can be used as a form of sex play. But if that is all people think of when they hear the expression, it reflects on them, not on you.

People think that roleplaying is all about sex because there is a huge sexual following for role playing (things such as teacher/student, boss/secretary, and numerous others). Role playing appears in things other than sexual acts but most people associate it with that because sex is a huge part of our culture. People may or may not want to believe it but that's the truth.
