I would be angry also.. thing is that you are not only dealing with your stepson but you are also dealing with his mom.. sounds like he is taking his anger out on you and the things you love (dog) because of his parents not being together any longer... talk to your husband and see how he says to handle it or let him do it alone...
But, and there is always a but, that is your home and your things and he(stepson)needs to respect you and your things and when he is at your home it's your rules... Good Luck!!!

I love animals, too. If he's [SS] constantly authority defiant now, your in for it in a few years, sorry. This is so agonizing, things will pass, you will let him know you're angry, time will make this pain easier for you to tolerate. In the meantime, this kid needs some serious guidance & direction. If he defied you intentionally he has major issues; if he didn't do this intentionally, something has to be done to mend the relationship between you & this SS. Seek counseling. The sooner, the better! I hope this helps in some way.

wow...thats heavy...i would punish the stepson....but creatively. I would only have real cause for alarm if the Ss showed no signs of remorse for causing the death of the dog...if that is the case, you will need to seek professional assistance.
