The red "X" is to indicate that there is supposed to be a picture there. It's called a placemarker. If you cannot see them, you could have security on your options set to not accept pictures from unknown sources. Or, the person's website where the picture is stored could be malfunctioning. Possibly, the server bandwidth is so slow that it cannot display the picture, so it displays the X instead. I would start with your firewall and security settings first. If those are all set to accept or display pictures, then you should contact the webpage master to let them know their pictures don't display.

This is usually the result of an error in the HTML code of the page... the code refrences to a picture that doesn't exist on the virtual drive.

could be several reasons
1) the picture doesnt exist anymore
2) the provider of the picture is firewalled out
3) your bandwidth is too low and the loading timed out
4) you dont have the proper browser plugin to view the file
