If you go to the hardware store you can buy a rubber balloon that fits over the end of a garden hose.
Stuff it down the drain slowly and it works to clear the drain by pushing the clog ahead of it until the clog breaks up.
Sort of like that operation where they insert a balloon in your leg and feed it to your heart to open your clogged artery's.
Or like the other person said ROTO-ROOTER

Three ways.
1. Use a shop vac and suck it out. Seriously. the simplest and cheapest if you have one.

2. An attachment for a garden hose called a "Blow Bag". It hammers the clog with water pressure and washes it on through. May cost +/- $12 to $20 depending on the size diameter of the drain, but works very well. Should be able to get one at the hardware store.

3. Go to an equipment rental yard and rent a big rotor rooter type snake. Ask for directions. It can be dangerous if not used correctly. Answers 1 and 2 are by far the safest.

4. Last, pay the bucks and hire it done.

Go to a hardware store that rents equipment. Its called a snake. I had to do that 3 months ago. its like a flat metal wire about a inch wide and its all coiled up. They come in different sizes. I had to get 90 ft because that was from my floor drain in basement out to the street. Its a real pain but it works

hmm, i know its a pretty big pipe, usually a few inches wide, so i guess it either happened over time or was one big thing, try to get a snake maybe, that they use for toilets to help dislodge whatever it is, also if you have very hot water running while doing that, that could help ease the friction
