It seems that when a question is first written, then one gets a lot of answers, after that things simply slow down. I am thinking that if you want many people to see your answer, then you have to ask the same one at different times of the day.

You're not supposed to ask the same question over and over again (they'll remove it if you do). I've asked questions before, only to get one or two crappy answers. I'm guessing Yahoo!Answers is mostly for stupid questions (or rhetorical ones).

Georgia had some great suggestions. I just want to add that it helps to share your questions list with other people you know. You can add it on your Yahoo! 360 or other personal webpage if you have one. You can even paste the link to a question in your Yahoo! Messenger status so others will be encouraged to answer your questions. There are still people who go through the categories listings also or use the advanced search to find questions they want to answer so don't give up hope. I've gotten some great answers late.

The best way to get a good answer to your question is to ask the question in the subject line first. Then, give additional details below. Be precise in your question. Pay attention to spelling and grammar, because some of us won't answer a question if we can't understand what the asker is trying to say. Do not post your question multiple times; it is against the rules of Yahoo! Answers and is considered spamming. Make sure your question is listed in the proper category and subcategory.

Try asking in the morning or later at night, people are more likly to be working in the middle of the day. Also try weekends when people have free time to answers the questions.

Don't worry. Some people go looking for old un-answered questions for an easy best answer. They at least get answered someway or another.

Here's an answer for you even though I'm not 100% sure of your question. The best way to get lots of answers is to ask an interesting question.

By having a well written, comprehensive and legitimate question is the best way to illicit the best response. Also, that it is in the correct category. Jules, Australia.

Getting good answers is hard. If you want a lot of answers, just include words like Democrat, Republican, liberal, conservative, Atheist, christian or Muslim. You will get all kinds of answers accusing the other side of being stupid and intolerant

Actually just put additional details at different times of the day.
That way it doesn't cost you more points.
