NO.... fish can easily survive for five days without food, if you are going away for five days, do NOT let anybody feed your fish for you (even if it is pre-measured), because they always have a tendency to mess it up, via not thinking that it is enough food, not washing there hands before feeding, or even worse experimenting with food they caught. Just make sure that you clean your tank the day of your departure, feed your fish there normal amount of food, NO extra food, because if you feed them 1.5x the amount, than that .5 will probably be missed and it will cause havoc on your tank while you are gone.
All and all just do what you normally do, 5 days will not hurt.

Ah yes, I understand, my fish are all dead.
Fish can last for weeks, if not monthes before a feeding. Think of it this way, we feed like two full meals daily. In the wild, they may get that food in a week. Enough said
Do not get a vaccation block, they release huge amounts of chemicals into the water, and barely give off any usable food, except for algae.
Automatic feeder are too risky, many cheap brands (around 20$) are horrible.
You fish will be fine for 5 days, if you're really worried, get a guy to feed premeasured meals

They can usually go about a week without regular feeding. Why would you want to do this? You can buy fish feeders that release the food slowly if you are going to be away. All pet stores have these. Not feeding any animal that is use to scheduled feeding is a bad idea and not healthy.

no it wont die. fishes find their own food in form of bacteria settled at the bottom as well as from plants. it is advised to keep the fish of this type hungry for a day in a week to cleanse it internally, as this fish eats beyond capacity. in case if you are worried put some more aquatic plants, some spinach leaves. you wont find any in the tank when you return. i have experienced instances where the fish was hungry for a month and survived and then thrived on based on the vegetation. take care however to keep the air pump and filter on. it is not the food but the oxygen which is essential.

probally not going to die, fish can go for awhile with out food, although i dont recommend it. IF you have to go on vacation, and have no one to baby sit the best thing to do for a Goldfish is NOt automatic feeders Or vacation feeders. Golfish produce alot of waste lots of poop make for lots of ammonia. Goldfish also do not have a mechanizm that say
"im full" they just keep eating which will produce even more waste and more than likely you will come home to a sick( high nitrate level leads to fungal infections) or dead fish due to the water quality. I have 8 aquariums, one of them is a gold fish tank. When i go on vacation i stock up on live plants like anachris. I usually feed my guys live plants anyways, but i usually throw in a new one before i go. Goldfish are omnivores and do best with a 50/50 diet of veggies or plants v/s flake and pellet foods (which is more meat) Depending on how many fish you have ..... you might want to buy a couple plants to be on the safe side but i find the annachris works best, it regrows fast even in moderate light, and doesnt break up and clog the tank like smaller "fluffy" plants like cabamba. note: most goldfish pellets/flakes do not contain enough vegitation for goldfish so supplement with live plants, zuchinni, broccalli,de-shelled green peas, cucumber, romaine lettuce.

If it's larger fish, it should be able to live for about a week without food. If you can, you should at least get a vacation feeder from the pet store (they're only a couple of dollars), at least it will get some nutrients. Better yet, if you can afford it, get an automatic feeder from the pet store and you never have to worry again.

Yes, it probably will. There's an easier way. Ask your neighbor or your friend or something to feed it. If you can't do that, well, I don't know. I guess you could put a lot of food (five days' worth), but first, stick to fish-sitting.

Surprisingly, probably not. They can live for a while without food. Though, I'd say if you're not able to feed him after more than three days, either get someone else to feed him, or get a vacation feeder from your pet store.
I hope you have this goldfish in a fairly large tank with adequate filtration. Otherwise, you're allowing him to fester in his poop, and opening him up to all kinds of infections and medical problems...

If you are unable to feed your fish, either feed it a LOT before you leave or get a pet sitter so that someone else can take care of it. My beta fish can survive one-two days without food, but it wouldn't be wise to let it go without food longer than that.
