I'm making a rabbit hutch, I have a picture and dimesions but no supply list? I know the basics but i don't know if I should use chicken wire or notIs there something special I should use?

I have a rabbit too. I think that I read somewhere that they need 24 square feet to run around in. My bunny cage is made of very small wire (not chicken wire) and is very deep so that he won't try to jump out. I have wood in the bottom in his cage.
The bottom shouldn't be chicken wire because if they run around on that they can get arthritis.
They will use a litter box. I used an old lasagna pan and put newspapers in it and a little bit of Timothy hay in it. It has now been designated for him. He is very clean, surprisingly and doesn't mess up his house, he uses the litter pan.
Put toys in your rabbit box and other things that he will love. Cat toys work well. My Bunny loves a small igloo home that we bought for him and a cat ball with a bell inside. He has a tube that is about his size and he loves it. They love to burro in things, remember that.
They love to chew on wood and you can get various kinds of it at your local Pet Smart or other pet shop.
They love Timothy Hay. Limit his sugar treats.

The bottom of the hutch should have something with holes no bigger than half an inch in diameter, chicken wire is fine for the sides, unless you want to breed your bunny because the newborns can slip out of it like flour through a sieve.

rabbits are companion animals and make great indoor pets. They can be litter box trained. I wouldn't recommend make the floor of the hutch out of wire. Rabbits do not have padding on their feet like dogs or cats and so wire can cause serious problems. Please check out http://www.rabbit.org

I don't think chicken wire is strong enough. use something stronger with holes large enough for droppings to go through, and small enough that its feet wont get stuck. We tried building the frame out of pvc pipe. It's cheap, but not very sturdy

chicken wire would be good to use as a screen for the hutch we bought are's from pets mart and they had chicken wire and lots of wood my dad is a construction worker so he figured it out fast maybe you should by one not put togather by scratch

I made one years ago and I used chicken wire and attached it to the frame with a staple gun.

On the farm, every friday... On the farm, rabbit pie day! Run rabbit run rabbit, run, run, run! Just kidding - I'm vegetarian. Bunnies are cute. Make sure you teach it to come to you when u call it. I did that with mine and he was so sweet. But now he's dead :-(

Rabbits are excellent indoor pets ... if you keep your bunn inside with you, he/she will become much closer to you and much more affectionate. It's also much safer for your bunn, and he/she will have a longer life inside with you. I've written an article on this -

I have had rabbits and they will eat nylon mesh, chicken wire works best, they will still chew it though.
