It is all in the language and repetition. I was married to a man who told me on a daily basis that I was stupid and worthless. After a while, I began to believe it. I am very fortunate to have family and friends who reminded me often that I am pleasant and smart! Eventually, I started listening to the masses instead of the singular person who thought I was worthless. I got a divorce, two degrees, and a good job. I hear the ex is still passing feathers from all the crow he had to eat!
