Everything in the universe is based in, comes from and is part of "Simplicity". Human beings are no different (naturally). We have the ability to perceive, reason, think and act... In and because of those abilities lies the human flaw.
Thinking of such things in the same manner in which you wrote them weaves an intricate inescapable snare which far too many people get trapped in. They think: "I am MAN, I have this ability, therefore I should use it" And in doing so they create themselves all of the mazes in life which otherwise wouldn't plague them! And all of those things become a vicious cycle.... Problem, solution, problem, solution.... OR question, answer... x infinity.
"Just because you can, doesn't mean you should".
Part of what mankind hasn't grasped the concept of yet very much is that simply knowing is MORE than enough. And, many questions don't need answers. That applies to all of your questions as well as countless others.

"I think, therefore I am" only means you exist. What you do with that existence, with your thoughts, your opinions, your voice...THAT's who you are inside. That's what makes you unique from everyone else.
I believe we're all a part of everything and everyone. We're all part of the same "stuff" that makes up all of life as we know it, and life as we don't know it. At the same time, we also have our individuality. It's interconnected.
As for the history books, I doubt I'll show up in there. I won't have any children to "carry on" my name. But the way I see it, if I touch just one person's life, if I've had any influence on them, made them smile, made them think...then I will live on forever. And that's just one person. Think about all the people we touch every day, even if it's just a smile.

So, basically, you do not question existence but state of existence, the acknowledgment of our own selves.
I do not know, who you are and that is not a question I might answer to, but I can tell you who I am, it would just be a tad too long, so I´ll make a summary.
I wish to be change I wish the world and maybe I will make it, maybe I will not, but in the end, I will have died trying. Will my existence have mattered? If only one person in this world will ever say: ¨You made a difference, at least to me¨, then it will have mattered, and even if that person will not exist, I hope to be strong enough to say that my life was not in vain. Will my line of thinking be adopted by others? Most certainly not, they will twist my words, my thoughts, my being, but I will let them, as long as they are true to themselves. History, will perhaps not know me, it will be enough for me to know history.
Just because many, do not know who they are, does not make them incapable of thought, it makes them... masses, gray, or Eugene Ionesco like... rhinos.
You ask legitimate questions, but do you ask them so they should be answered? Or do you ask them, because now you think you have done your duty of exploration and may rest?

"I think, therefore I am" is a result of a great consciousness of the self.
I think, I can recognize who am I. I can define my position in the world. I understand myself, the other who's not myself. And I'm aware of my mental and physical existence. I do know who am I because I think. I think, therefore, I am. Otherwise, I wouldn't be existed for myself, because the existence of a certain object is depending on the consciousness of this object's being, and that comes by thought.

Just because you think doesn't require that you think about anything specific. You can think, and therefore exist, without having any idea who you are or ever thinking about who you are.
Also, just because I answer this, doesn't mean I'm thinking. It's entirely possible YOU are the only thinker, and I am nothing but a figment of your imagination.

Life is a puzzle to discover yourself.
The world within us is wider than the universe.
Try to bring out your best self...
You can be a winner in this human race.
Good luck.
The questions you asked is the sign of a healthy inner personality. Allow that child to grow well.

Even idiots think.
You obviously are not an idiot.
You are simply a thinking man.
Making it into the pages of history proves nothing. Your existence matters because you are here. My existence matters because I am here.
In the end, nothing matters except for the fact that you ARE.
Period.

you think there for you are... not you are therefor you think!
If you know you think you don't know who you are, then you can rely on knowing that you, or something originating your thoughts exists.
Does it matter? Well I hope it matters to you.
I think I know I am. I think you might be someone with too much time to ask lots of silly questions... definitely a genius philosopher in the making!

You are who you are. That is what is the proper way of thinking. Your choices will decide what will happen with your life whether it be for the good of mankind or the good of a people close to you. Your life is what YOU make it not others. You are You

I think, therefore I am - is imperfect and half truth.
My being does not depend on my thinking. Thought decides my becoming not being
I am the one who is behind the thoughts, watching as a witness not interferring into thoughts, but enjoying giving silent nod
