Could it just be a personality trait when all other reasons fail to meet the reason that could be causing them to screech, squeal, and "fake" cry all day (no tears!). We have a 10 month old boy at our child care facility who cries over everything. Changing his diaper makes him scream and cry (plus kicking you while you are changing him). He hits other babies, stands in the middle of the room screaming, screams while being held sometimes. Just naturally seems like an unpleasant baby. I feel bad for him but then again when babies who act like that keep it up I really don't. I have a 6 month old nephew who is like this too but at least I know why he is the way he is. His parents keep him strapped to their hip at all times. Other than the few that are constant screamers/cryers most babies are great I think.

Probably he is just picking up on *your* feelings towards him. Babies know when someone doesn't like them...

Weird about the nephew acting unhappy. Most "attached" babies that I've seen are calmer and more content. Maybe because they have their needs met faster than those who aren't. Sounds like the baby at the center is really upset about something. I'd speak with the parents and rule out health issues first. Could be he just really misses his family and needs some extra loving attention. If this were my son it would rip my heart out to know that he was like this when he was away from me.
Oh, another thing. If you've never seen tears from him and his parents haven't either he might need to have his ducts checked. I read that sometimes they don't open properly and need a doctor's attention.

Perhaps he is having trouble at home. You need to speak to his parents about your concerns for him. Perhaps he has his parent's full attention on him at home, so when he comes to day care, he cries and screams because the attention isn't fully on him.He might also have more deeper problems like mental illnesses. It is your responisbility to adress the parents about it, and for them to help you find a way to overcome the problem. Good luck

Some babies are more high-strung than others- that is a personality trait. So, yes, I think that some are just naturally in a foul mood.

I think this 10 month old is very unhappy. He might have a health issue that is causing him pain. I would take him to a doctor. It sounds like something is wrong!

I think he needs some individual attention. He's acting out because he's so unhappy in his setting. Make him feel at home - make him feel cared for. Poor baby!!!

When he acts up like that I would put him in his crab or a high chair. He miss's his mom and it might take him a little while to just used to you
Good Luck
