I think the 2 months figure is reasonably accurate.

It took about a month to get our pre-approval. And then several more weeks once we had made an offer on a house. You might be able to speed up the pre-approval, especially if you have really good credit, but I am pretty sure they need 30 days to get the actual loan together (surveys, apprasals, titles, etc).

I have found 30 days to be an average, but have had great results using "e-Loan" which averages 14 days if you have good credit.

30 days... If you have to go passed that date once, you have locked in your rate you will pay more money. good luck In in the process of buying a house too..
