I just rented Bowling For Columbine and it's a brilliant movie in my opinion. It made me want to ask you if you remember the Columbine shootings (I was 7 at the time.) Can anyone tell me their story of seeing on the news, the news of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold shooting up their school.

I was at work when the news reports started coming over CNN. Work pretty much stopped for the rest of the day and we all stood around the TV and watched in disbelief as the story developed. I'm from Oregon and we had our own school shooting (Kip Kinkle) not too long before Columbine so we were all dismayed at the seeming growing trend of school shootings. It never occured to any of us, even when we got into fights at school, to go get a gun and start shooting people. Where'd that come from?

I was working in a school. I'd just moved to the community and had signed up as a substitute teacher while setting up my business.

I'd worked as an artist in the schools in the 1980's and by the time Columbine happened, school funding for programs other than sports had been steadily cut for years.

For me Columbine should have been a wake-up call. I was fortunate to grow up in America when there was lots of funding for education. We were raised to be future citizens of our community, which meant that everyone showed up at school, including the local artists, bankers, doctors. Our town actually set aside open space land. I was on the committee with other students, teachers and local community leaders.

IMHO Columbine in its own way is as horrifying as 9-11.

I was in California at the time of the shootings and at work...I was really upset by the whole thing..after those 2 did that California started having "drills" for the kids to learn to hide from any one that would walk in the school with a weapon...It made me cry to think that my kids were having to do those type of drills...whereas when I was in school we did "Fire Drills" now they have cops in the schools..For me it is truly sad that all that happened to those poor kids at Columbine....
