My tribe is having a celebration and give away for our elders and chief. However some of us are stumped on what too buy our chief to give him for our gratefulness, as well as too honor him.
Anyone with ideas would greatly be appreciated. Thank You.

I'd say that you should commission a portrait of him. You could then either give it to him or hang it in a place of honor where you meet regularly.

I am sure anything you do for your Chief will be greatly appreciated by him. Being a Chief or any type of leader is a great responsibility. It's not an easy job, especially for Native American Indian peoples. He may at times receive many accolades from others outside your nation and community, but I am sure if you get him alone, he would appreciate this honor from his own people.

You and your committee depending on how well you know your leader, could obtain something personal he wouldn't necessarily buy for himself. Then with this gift, have your sacred ceremony and have the elders, and his family members join him...This is always a great honor.

You could also have the children of your tribe make special individual gifts for your Chief. Children have a way of always melting the hearts of elders when they do something from their hearts. Then, again have everyone come together in a sacred circle...

You could do all of the above, have a sacred circle, and naturally a big feast afterwards, with the Chief's favorite foods for him to enjoy with tribal members and his family. I hpe this helps. From a brother Choctaw
