I'm doing some lab work at a research lab. I'm a newcomer to this place, but I was wondering if there was some sort of gas (instead of a local anesthetic) to sleep an animal. I've been searching for it, but I was unlucky, being "Knockout gas" and KOLOKOL-1 (apparently lethal) as my only results. Can someone tell me how much of what ingredients use to make this gas?

Not any easy thing to do, since -- as with most bioactive compounds -- the dose makes the poison. One of the reasons the Russian use of the "knockout gas" went so terribly wrong is that, in order to ensure they had a total knockout of the terrorists, they had to pump a bunch of gas into the building, and it overwhelmed many of the captives and --quite literally -- shut down all their bodily processes and functions.

And laboratory animals do not always respond in the same way as humans, or other animals.

Good luck.

Nitrous Oxide is not used just to get a filling. The doctor already numbs the tooth and surrounding area with an injection of Novocaine, you won't feel any pain and you will be numb for hours after you get the filling. All you will do is hear the dental equipment working. btw Nitrous Oxide is also called laughing gas. I think you may be trying to take it to the extreme over such a small procedure. For God's sake! You are not having a heart transplant.

I know with insect collecting they use chloroform. But pure chloroform requires. 100 percent lab grain alcohol and 100 percent chlorine to make. Gas and bleach made chloroform is dangerous. But got to be careful with chloroform because if it gets more than 6 weeks old it can turn into a wwll nerve gas.

I've had the best results with halothane. Get em sleepy, then hit 'em with ketamine and valium injection. a brief exposure will do. They pass through the hyperactive phase quickly.
