Why do women stop caring about their looks after marriage?

They seem to lose their feminine aspects. They gain weight, cut their hair short, dont dress up anymore, dont wear makeup anymore. This is what causes men to cheat and I want to know why it is so common among marriages.

I think that a lot of women just start to give up. The wives that continue to dress to impress are the ones that are married to men that notice them, compliment them and make them feel sexy.
If the woman already feels ugly and unattractive then what is the sense of trying anymore.

1. Gain weight--we have babies--plus so do men!
2. Cut their hair short--most times we are just trying to be stylish, plus long hair is a pain in the butt and guys are always freaking about how long it takes to get ready as it is, we just figure we're cutting the time down.
3. Don't dress up anymore--Do you take her anywhere which would require "dressing up" like you did when you were dating? What's the point of putting on a nice dress to go shopping at Wal-mart or the local drive thru. We might get "special sauce" on it, then there's the whole trip to the dry cleaners.
4. Don't wear makeup--ditto to the above.

This CANNOT be why men cheat. Men cheat because they are not getting special treatment from their women. Women stop givign special treatment to their men because their men stop treating them special.

The things that are important to men are not the same things that are important to women. Sex and an attractive partner is what men want. Women want to feel loved, to feel special. Men want sex, women want help with the housework and a trip to Macaroni Grill.

What an interesting convo. Personally, I give every ounce of energy to making my woman happy. We dress nice because we represent each other. My wife is a diva, and no one else can tell her otherwise. Men cheat because they want to,not for any onther reason.Some women after marriage and kids just don't have time to pamper themselves after taking care of hubby kids,and home.If a man truly loves you and appreciates all his woman does in the course of a day,he won't cheat.Instead he will try to find time for her to pamper herself.Perhaps take on her role for a day every once in a while.I mean,men tend to gain weight and become lazy couch potatos,but their wives don't cheat.HMMMM,I wonder why????Could it be because they love more than just the physical????

First of all I have to make a major correction to Wowee's comments. Men do not cheat "because they are not getting special treatment from their women." Obviously she is not a man so she has no room to speak of. Men cheat because they find other women physically attractive. Duh? I thought people already knew this. It's a major fact of life. About her last comment about Macaroni grill: That's the main reason for women's weight gain. Going out to eat too much.

I don't have an answer. After I got married, I lost weight, I try to work out, I wear make-up which I didn't before. I do so much more now to look good for my husband, I feel I have more reason now then ever before.

As a married girl I'm going to tell you something, its easy to criticize a situation that you are not in. It makes me laugh the ideas that some single girls have about us, just because they don't have to work outside home, pick up kids, make homework's, make dinner, and also take care of our husbands. I say this because its easy to say oh you got married and now you are fat, and you don't make up jajja. You could try our lives for a couple of days, instead of going to the gym, getting fashion clothes and trying to steal or husbands.
We married girls also try to look nice, to love ourselves, to be nice for our husbands, the difference is that we don't live only for that, we don't live only to be sexy like some single girls do, we have more interesting things to do.
Real nice guys, who appreciate what their women are don't cheat, because they find beauty not only in physical things.

i think it goes both ways. both men and women stop caring about what they look like, and how they act. pretty much because they found someone who loves them for who they are and they think it doesnt matter anymore. and their partner doesnt seem to care, or discuss the changes that have been made. if it is getting bad, the partner needs to say something...

obesity for example... not just because they are gaining weight, but because its associated with sooo many risk factors...

Some women think they're already married so they don't need to put such an effort on their looks. I think that's a mistake. Women should look their best not for anyone but for their own self esteem.
