ling, punctuation, language, etc. Is this the current protocol? Or are there just a bunch of illiterates who do this kind of thing. I'm truly serious; bring on the abuse if you must. I just want to know if I'm belaboring a mute point. Thanx?

I too have discovered that many people on this site seem to have elementary grammar skills. I would not expect people to be perfect writers but come on it's not that difficult to use the spell check located at the top right of this little box we type in. Or some people just do not seem to care.

Unfortunately, in the Internet world where emails and typed messages are sent back and forth to one another it's hard not to judge a person by the way they are typing.

Try to clean it up a little people.

It's actually a mix of everything. There are some people who don't know how to use correct grammar. There are people who are too lazy to communicate using proper grammar. If you spell a word that Yahoo Answers considers improper, the word will not appear in the question/answer.

I think that you have a very valid point. I think that online forums, chat and IM have made people forget the importance of the English language. If they abbreviate words to save time, then why don't people learn to type faster?

me too! its a pet peeve of mine......I audit medical records for a living, and the things that ALL of our employees write drives me to distraction.......I dont know which is scarier, the docs that cant spell or the techs that work with the customers on a close level.

and just for the record, there are days where I want to scream at some of the posters around here....other days its just so sad.....

Haha...I asked the same question, basically (click on my "picture" and check out my questions to see what people said.) It really is pretty frightening. I'm just having to hope that there are a lot of 8 year olds out there masquerading as adults :)

As far as I know, it's only protocol for those who don't know what they're doing in the first place, or those who are too lazy to care.

It is horrible. There is the excusable cultural divide, but there many examples of poor grammar, over-coding, and indecipherable language.
