There's Accutane, Doxycycline, and also Tetracycline.
I took both Accutane and Doxycycline as a teenager.
Ortho-tricycline (birth control) can also have a positive effect.
One thing to note:
If you are or will become pregnant within 6 months of using Accutance... DO NOT USE IT. It has something like a 96% rate of serious birth defects. If you are sexually active and use it, you MUST use birth control.
As far as the pill being blue, the one I remember being blue was Doxycycline. Tetracycline is somewhat newer, and probably didn't exist when you were a teenager.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

To tell you the truth, I used ProActive. Not lying either. It actually does work. My face and neck used to be covered in Acne. When I bought ProActive for the first time I thought that it would end up being bullshit. But believe me, after about 6-8 weeks there was a big difference.
Still dont believe me, try it for yourself.

NOT accutane. it causes all these birth defects, etc. because my cousin used it and now she can't have kids. i don't recommend it. however, doxycycline is what i used [its a blueish/turqoise pill] and it works very well. you just take it twice a day and don't drink/eat dairy products within an hour before or after you take it. it works. talk to your dermatologist. but make sure you ask about the serious side effects. good luck!

Evening Primrose does help..so does Vitamin C...Drink lots of water and eat many fresh vegetables and fruits...and keep your skin clean...and get some sun on it...the sun has vitamins that make your skin good...most acne seems to be on white faces now I think about it..so get some outdoors into your life..its good for you..
Number 1 Rule...keep off Junk Food...and avoid Fizzy drinks..they are the killers..

Well, there's Accutane, which is a vitamin A derivative used for moderate to severe acne. There's also various anti-biotics that are prescribed for acne.

You can take tetracycline (prescription only) as dermatologists often prescribe it for problem acne. Just a normal case, well, they probably won't. Only your doctor knows for sure about that.
