When you go to the doctor's office, and you are called from the waiting room, a MOA or Medical Office Assistant is taking you back and taking your vitals. What do you as a patient expect from this person? How could they make you feel most comfortable or make the doctor visit most worthwhile?

I am most comfortable when the office personnel act in a professional way and are not busy chatting with others in the office over your head and around you. The assistant should be attentive and friendly but not condescending. Acting brusque and hurried is a no-no, too.

Someone who is confident and considerate. You don't have to talk a lot, but smile and be curteous. Make the patient feel that they aren't just another chart/number. Reassure the patient. Don't make them wait too long in the room where there aren't any magazines.

Being able to converse and do their job effectively at the same time is the key :)
