Do NOT put 3.5" floppies in an ordinary paper shredder! The metal hub will damage it! Even shredders intended to be used with CDs may be damaged by 3.5" floppies. 5.25" ones should go through safely, though. Check the docs before you buy.
A large magnet will help erase them, then just toss them in the trash.
Or, look for a commercial pulverizer to dispose of them. A pulverizer is much like the wood chippers that tree services use but are intended to deal with smaller items and small to medium sized pieces of metal as well.

If you can find a school that still uses them (or enev an individual) - just bulk erase them and donate them -- I hate the thought of destroying usable things.

Buy a powerful magnet and run it over them. That'll scramble the information on them. But keep it WELL away from the equipment you want to keep!

Fill up your bathtub and dump 'em in.
Pour a little bit of bleach in there just to be sure.

Aren't there computer/tech recycling companies that know how to do this? Perhaps you could contact them.

You can get a shredder that will do it. Or, take them to a commerical shredder and have them do it for you.

Just burn them to ashes. Nobody will be able to recover them.
Simple and free.
