yes i have been told that from my b/f...people who say this are at least a little insecure. you just need to affirm that you wouldn't leave him and if he needs to lose weight you two should do it together. it is always more fun that way.

Insecurity. Some guys think the big girl AINT going no where, because they THINK nobody else wants her so she will cater to him. They think once she loses weight she'll become more appealing to other men and will find out that the man she has at home is NOT the best she can do, thus she'll leave him.
Ultimately, the decision to lose weight is up to the person that has to lose the weight to feel better about themselves, look better, boost their selfesteem...
A mate the is secure and LOVING with support this effort and not try to talk you out of it...

yeah, I have had some I loved tell me that. Here is the deal, yes you may need to lose weight and get more healthy. But if someone truly loves you, they would not hang that over your head. They are saying that to control you, and that is a form of emotional abuse. When I finally left that relationship, I lost 26lb. With the stress of someone putting me down all the time was gone, the weight just came off. Good luck honey.

Noone has ever said that to me,quite the opposite actually. My ex said:"Lose more weight or i'll leave you"(thats why he's my ex).
Whoever said that could be insecure and said that coz he or she feels that if you lose more weight you'll look more attractive than them and leave them for someone else.
People say crazy things when they feel threatenned.Hope you resolve it.Jus dont let 7 words stop you from wanting to change your life!Good Luck

This person said that if you DID lose weight he'd leave you (as in get thinner)??? Hell, beat that loser to the punch, and put his bags on the doorstep and tell him not to let the door hit him in the a$$ on the way out!!!!!
If a person loves you, its because of YOU - the whole person - inside and out, not the size of your jeans/dress/shirt/etc. That is a shallow, callous, selfish thing to say, and I wouldn't stand for it for a single second!!!

Yes, this has happened, and please try to be sympathetic as the person is afraid they'll lose you if you look better than you do now. It's a sad state of the world when people decide to end a relationship over a few pounds, but it's how things are. It happens all the time.

Oh no, not the weight thing again. Turn off the T.V. stop looking at fashion magazines, stop going to movies. Get to know each other as real people and these obsessions with weight etc. will disappear.

It is just thier way of showing how insecure they are! Maybe it is the way that you are losing weight that is making him (or her) feel that way.... are you obsessed with it? Do you make comments about looks constantly? Perhaps for the future you could be more subtle about your dieting goals and when he sees that you are looking better than ever and you are still togehter he will gain more confidence.

Tell that person to move on. Lose weight for yourself and not someone else.
