SIMM or Single Inline Memory Module (s) and DIMM or Dual Inline Memory Module (s) are both forms of Memory chips that are used to extend the RAM of your PC. They both fit directly on the Memory slot on the motherboard. Single inline means there are chips on only one side of the chip, and of course dual means on both sides. Memory modules (xxMM) also differ in the number of pins (the conductors) SIMMs usually have either 30 or 72 pins, while DIMMs usually have 168. In form SIMMs are usually smaller than DIMMs although they look basically the same. Also SIMMs are 32-bit, DIMMs are 64. To complicate your TAFE, there are other types of memory modules, try the internet. These are RIMMs, SoDIMMs and MicroDIMMs. More xxMM(s) you have the more efficient your PC! Tadah! Hope I was able to help.

DIMMs are Dual Inline Memory Modules and SIMMs are Single Inline Memory Modules. The major difference is that DIMMs support 64 bit transfers, and SIMMs only support 32 bit transfers.
