i have an orphan brumby who is just 12 months old and getting bored with me leading and lunging her. what can i do with her until shes ready to be broken in? (apart from grooming).

You could already start using a lightweight saddle on her and getting her used to a simple bridle, and working her as always. You also might try to the Parelli system, they've got so many games and stuff that you never ever get bored! It's so much fun to teach them stuff and play too. I mean, get all the basics down pat so when it does come time to try to ride and begin training, you've got a really good foundation built on trust, cause then the riding part is a breeze. I think you are doing just the right thing. If she is lunging well, then you are well up on her training. Just be sure that it is gentle & you are going on both sides equally, so she dosen't over work or over muscle on one side. What about long reining from links either side of halter to get her used to turning different ways. Be patient. She is really just a wee ba!

Eventually if you are going to ride her. Just start with putting the blanket on her for the first week and given verbal commands. Then start with putting the saddle on her. She will come around.
