I think a lot of the time, these women actually wan't assurance that they suspicions of being pregnant are founded. They want help in analysing their symptoms, and want to hear other's personal experiences regarding how they felt when they were in early pregnancy. It can be quite reassuring to these women, to know that others were once in a similar situation, and that they are not alone.

I also think perhaps, that they don't want to spend the money on a pregnancy test, until somebody convinces them that is what they need to do.

Some women may also be anxious to know the results, yet frightened in case it wasn't what they were hoping for. They are stalling taking the test for a number of reasons, either they are scared to see that the test comes up positive, or it would be depressing for them to have the test show up negative.

For others, especially younger women, it may be embarassing for them to purchase a pregnancy test. They may feel as if they are being judged at the checkout. Perhaps they are worried about bumping into a friend of theirs whilst they have a pregnancy test in their hand?

Hope I could help!

most people know to go see a doctor, they just want to hear other people's experiences or to get a heads up about what the doctor might say - as a parent, hearing other parents stories is an invaluable tool to helping you get through the phase your child is in. Anyway, that might be why some people ask their questions

I agree with the first poster. Maybe they are trying the think of other possiblites, and are really uncomfortable talking to a doctor about it.
