Its all about whats good for the country as a hole. You will not have problams like Un employment, you will not have to worry about food, clothing, housing, it will all be supplied by the government. Something to think about...

It's funny that you ask that, because lately I have noticed that Democrats seem more like Communists or Socialists than they did 50 years ago and they keep going farther that way. The problem is that, though founded on some utopian principles that seem appealing, it is not sustainable for any society.
"you will not have to worry about food, clothing, housing, it will all be supplied by the government." Yeah, cause no one in USSR or China or Cuba had/has to worry about food, clothing or housing.
No, Democracy is the way to go. Vote Republican! :)

Communism sure does sound great, till reality sets in.
Why work hard if doing mediocre work gets you the same thing?
Who decides who gets what? Power corrupts & absolute power corrupts absolutely, so do we want that much power in the hands of the government?
Communistic Russia produced the worst of just about everything it made. (Except a few things made for the government.) Ever heard of those fine Russian cars? No?
The only place communism may work well is in an actuall commune. If you have only a couple dozen people working together for the betterment of the whole community, there is more actual accountability. Everyone knows everyone so corruption & laziness are curbed. That's not the way it happens in a big government.
Sorry, we'll have to wait a while longer for Utopia.

Communism is a failed system. The former Soviet Union collapsed under its own weight (Reagan had nothing to do with it). China is becoming more capitalistic. North Korea is a third world country.
You are making Liberals look bad. Read some history about the Soviet Union and how people had to live. There were constant shortages and people had to stand in line for hours to get food.
lol, micheal f, republicans think through. Just like Bush thought through his Iraq exit strategy. Learn to spell you will have a better job pulling off the "smart" thing.

You see the problem that most people do not address with communisim is the fact that it takes place in three seperate events. the first event is the revolution, the second is a dictatral government, the third is a nation guided and controled completly by an educated people. The problem with current and past communist is they never gave control to the people that it belonged too. If communism was to actually reach maturity it would be a better system than the one party corporate system we have in place today.

Communism sounds great on paper...that's why so many countries have gone that way. However, like Socialist, it doesn't work in real life.
Imagine you work hard to do your best. You get an education and you become a Neurosergion. You work more than full-time and are the best in your field. You are on-call constantly.
Now imagine the uneducated man who works at the corner gas station filling gasoline in your car. He makes the same amount of money as you.
What's the incentive for working hard to do your best? None.

Communism does have some virtues and even our own government agrees with this. You may of noticed that our laws now are quite similar if you really look at our way of life. "We the people" don't really have as loud of a voice as we did 100 years ago. The change is so mild though that we hardly notice. When you bring up "freedom", I as, what freedom? What can anyone do in America that doesn't have a dollar sign and a law attatched to it?

a lot of people say that communism works on paper just like you say. It may even work for a year or two. eventually people will start getting sick of being told what to do and all of the sudden, the system doesn't work. That is why capitalism can survive in countries like ours for hundreds of years and communism never stays around for long

Well no one is saying that it isn't good in theory! It's is... but it doesn't work. Masses of people can't work together for the good of the community without trying to better themselves. It's human nature to try to get ahead. The only even remotly successful communist state, ever, is Cuba... and that was only because Castro was totally an utterly in control.

Umm but communist is based on equality, however someone needs to make decisions!
This leads to corruption and inequality! How will the government supply things to everyone equally? Would you be a doctor and get paid like a dishwaher? How do you say who does what job?
Communists = oppression! don't need to think about it because there are real like examples!
Take a vaction to Cuba! see it firsthand!
