How many people here knew that you cant name a folder 'con' on any computer? Try it, its impossible. and if you tried it and succeeded let me know(but you wont beable to)

I didn't know that either!

Like someone else said it's a dos command, so when you're using dos, it would be recognized as a command and not a folder, hence not being able to open the folder and windows, knowing it, prevents future problems by not allowing this.

damn.. I didn't knew that! I've been using computers for the past 9 years and I didn't name a folder con before

In windows environment , you can't do that , because the base is matter of DOS and NTFS and FAT wont allow you that.

But there is no problem naming a folder "con" on Unix , linux or Solaris.

Cool! Learnt a new thingy today which I didnt know abt.
Though, if you are using unix, you can name a folder - con ;)

It is a reserved name like AUX and has been that way since the DOS days, also "con" means "console" which is a reserved name.

Not just con, (console) but also prn, aux, or anything else that has a special meaning in dos
