The Polite Answer is: They each believe they have their "base", or their "40 percent" of the population that solidly votes their way, so in going after the remainder, they end up chasing and trying to appeal to the same people. Swing voters that is.

The Rude Reality is: They've both sold their souls, and been bought out lock, stock and both barrels by the same exact clique, your CEO Class, your One Percenters whose only concern is making sure they can bleed the bottom 99% of American society dry, make the economy go utterly to crap, and then run away to China where they too can live like Fu Manchus while the rest of Western Civilization falls apart and gets ripped apart by the twin vultures of Religious Fanaticism and/or Third World Psychos who insist on getting rich *entirely* at our expense. (not sure that is two birds or just one big two-headed beast though, *lol*)

In other words, they're paid for by the same people, and pursue the same people, and we want them to be different?? Huh?

The lines are starting to blur. We now have conservative Democrats and liberal Republicans and also Independants and Libertarians. We have Democrats who are for unions but are pro-life and don't care much about the environment. We also have Republicans who care very much about having unions and protecting the environment, while everybody cares about our kids getting a good education. Jennifer Granholm is a Democrat who is the governor, here in Michigan, and she is passing laws that are harmful to the environment. She is also a Catholic who is by her Democratic nature, pro-choice. But she still feels she is so devout of a Catholic that she can still be a Eucharistic minister at her parish. Yet, she is so pro-choice that she even supports partial birth abortion. She is very wishy-washy. I feel sometimes, you just have to choose a side and stick with it. You can't be both or sit on the fence.

I am a democrat, mainly because I am an environmentalist and I also support the idea of unions and government aid to the less fortunate. I, however do not support same sex marriages, nor do I support abortions. I feel the way Bill Clinton said he did on the issues he brought up. I am also a Catholic. My beliefs, unlike Jennifer Granholm, do not defy the religion I follow.

i imagine your evaluation is amazingly skewed. surely, little enormous difference exists anymore between Republican and Democrat. I easily were both, and voted for both. both Democrats and Republicans love u.s., and both Democrats and Republicans search for to serve the persons--please note that exceptions on both section exist. take heed to what the applicants say. look at their heritage. ignore concerning the sound bytes. tell your self. Cancel the bluster and ignore concerning the bluff. do not only take the pundents note for it that so and so is a conservative, liberal, neocon, useful, even if. examine. awaken u.s.! we've a u . s . to maintain!

It's all about taking sides and feeling like you are part of the group.

But both parties choose candidates based on who is the least offensive. Thus, they both lean towards the same thing, optimum bland non-offensive vague one-liners
