Because state medical marijuana is just another lame excuse for dope-heads getting high. Stop that crap...smoke salmon.

Because there are federal laws banning medical marijuana, which have been justified in courts due to the commerce clause of the constitution which gives Congress the right to regulate interstate commerce. According to the Supreme Court, regulating marijuana, even in instances where the sale does not involve interstate trade, sufficiently affects interstate commerce to allow Congress to pass these laws.
