It is not the quality of the Presidents it is the lack of understanding of the people in and around the country that has changed over the years.

People are so quick to say that someone is not doing the job correctly without all of the facts or some understanding of what it is to actually make a commitment to any situtation.

The President tries to make decision every day that hopefully make life better for us and if that means doing some things that you wouldn't do all of the time then you run the country and see how far you get.

Because so many people running for president can't effectively lead, and others just say a bunch of BS to get into office. It'll be a rare thing to have a president that truly cares about the people and not just about a certain sector of America. There shouldn't be one party that has these peoples votes and another party that has those peoples votes. An effective president should have votes from all sectors and should be trying to make logical decisions not insanly stupid ones. Democrats have a whole thinking process different than the American people and many Republicans have been corrupt so not alot of trust in their party. And lets hope those smaller parties like the Green Party never make any office or else that's the end of America. We need a new party that actually makes sense.

First who would want to be criticized as much as the President of the United States? The media loves to find something in their past for the front page of the paper, or the lead story on TV. You almost have to live in a sealed room until you're ready to run for office. Nothing is private.

Then it's your fault if gas prices go up or the stock market goes down.

Of course every CEO on Wall Street, TV actor, professional athlete, and pop star, makes way more money than the President.

How many other jobs in the world require a "special" branch of the government who's only job is to keep someone from killing you.

OK now everyone who wants this job take a step forward.........

I do not think so at all. I am not sure when you think think this decline started, but if you are talking about Bush, then I would say you are wrong. I actually think that it is the American people who make our president look bad, not so much the man himself. The way people act in the U.S. makes Bush look bad. The President is not bad.

I'm guessing you're and most of the people answering this aren't American.
Clinton, despite his personal failings, was pretty good. He cleared the deficit, promoted social issues and used the military sparingly. This one has done just the opposite.
At this rate, next time around we'll be voting for chimps.

I agree. It started during WWII when the president who was in office then lied so he could get something passed and it has continued to get worse and worse.
