Did you say you wanted to pay for the subscription yourself? That is an educational magazine; promise her that after one year of reading it you will do a big paper to show her how much you learned.
If you are 14 or under, also consider Young Rider, the 'sister' magazine of Horse Illustrated for youth.
If she still says no, check your local library; if they don't have it, ask about an inter-library loan program.

Tell your mom that you will earn the money for the subscription. Chores, babysitting, lemonade stand... Of course there is always the library. You can usually check out older magazines from them.

otherwise magazines deplete world natural resources (destroy trees, pollute water.. etc and create garbage) so best not to get the magazines really
