why are most anime shows set in Tokyo and not in Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Kyoto or some other city

Same reason most US shows are set in LA or New York. It's a major city where it's easy to blend in with the crowd. It's where aspiring dreamers go to reach their full potential.
Plus the Tokyo tower makes for an easy reference to show that it's set in the real world.

same as when you visit japan,the first come in mind will be tokyo.Everyone knows tokyo because that's the capital city of japan.i dont think many ppl know where nagasaki,hiroshima and kyoto is.

I think its because its a major city, and most of the action usualy happends there above all the other places in japan
and its probably because most people only know about tokyo, in japan, so they feel its beter for the anime to take place in a place that is known by everybody, well its on the world map

Not really
I think many anime that not locate on Tokyo. Like Fate/Stay Night, Ah! My Goddes, Shaman King, Gundam, Onegai Twin, Onegai Teacher, Galaxy Angel and many more.

Because Tokyo's the capital of Japan. I think... I mean, I know it's the capital but I think that that's the reason.

Maybe it's because they don't want to do it in some of those places. Some creators of their anime shows do the setting on where they live.
