They are excerting themselves intensely in the summer heat and alot of them are picked because of their size not their fitness ability or skill
as well they have to wear all sorts of guards helmets and equipment and when a male is in highschool he has alot of testosterone and going through puberty so he is giving off lots of phermones and has bad BO.

Football is a contact sport, so you HAVE to get used hitting and being hit, pushing, shoving, and if you like having the ball in your hands, time spent on the bottom of a body pile with other people's sweat and blood dripping all over you. You also need to get used to the jocking, mocking, finger-pointing, and some humiliation from both the coaches and players. All of these build mental toughness. If you can't stand this, you won't make it in football. Also expect to be pushed to the limit physically. You'll have to run when you don't think you can run any more. Lift more weight than you think you're capable of. All of this will make you stronger. Be ready to be a team player. The coach will determine the best fit for you on the team. Just play the position he puts you, because that's where you can contribute the most to the team. Even if that means you ride pine all year. There are probably better players at all positions on the team, so you won't get to be in the action. But you still have to practice just as hard during practice because you're making the starters better; hence, you're making your team better. The pad are made to protect, not for comfort. You just have to get used to it. My question to you is: why do you still want to play football if you've already quit twice and it sounds like you don't really want to try that hard to fit in to the football team concept. Is it because of your school's football history and that playing on the team will get you fame and popularity? If so, think about whether the pain and suffering (both physical and mental) is worth the popularity you might (or might not, if you dont' get to play in games) gain. You should be playing for the love of the sport of football. That may be the only motivation that will get you through the season.

if you must ask its because they pour their blood sweat and tears out on the field, noone works harder than a high school football player not even college and pros trust me i've played the college game practice was cake compared to HS. Of course the fact that were just running around doing a physical activity in the dirt and sometimes mud could account for that. maybe you should try it
and no offense but the girls are giving answers here dude

You are creeping me out kid, why are you paying attention to that. Is this something you wantt o replicate- men getting hot and sweaty and smelly?
I mean the answer is obvious, physical activity and wearing all that heavy bulky equipment would make you sweaty and then smelly.
I like "Pancakes" answer. Maybe you should try exercise yourself and you would know that.

Because they are busting there butts off. maybe u should try it sometime. it's not as easy as it looks, even at high school level. You try blocking a 200 plus defensive linemen, or running along the side lines being chased, while also wearing around 10-15 pounds of equipment.

Any human being who is physically exerting himself will be hot, sweaty, and yes, smelly. Sweat stinks when it hits the air, but we'd be dead if we didn't sweat!
