While you still have the job you don't like, can't you search for a job that pays more and/or you like more? There's lots of jobs out there. I guess that depends a bit on where you live exactly but, then again, you could move.

First off, I would not quit my job until I had secured another job. The best time to look for a job is when you have one. Secondly, being a grown up does not mean you have to put up with stuff. Being a grown up means being responsible for your actions and does not have anything to do with tolerating stuff. If your financial situation is bleak and you pay child support it may have nothing to do with your job at all. It could have something to do with your lifestyle and not living within your means. By changing jobs your child support won't stop so what is the real reason for you not liking you job anymore? Is it your salary? If that is the case then you should look for another job that pays more but keep this one until you find a job. Just keep in mind just because you will make more money does not gaurantee your happiness.

I'm in the same boat (except the child support thing). I have decided to figure out what I like to do and now I am finding jobs that have to do with that. I figure the pay may not be that great at first, but if I am doing something I enjoy then I will excell quickly and the pay will follow.

Continue to work, but look for another job. I find that the quickest way to get a raise is to get a new job. If you like your job look for a company who will pay you more to do it.
Look in the news paper, ask around (if you see someone who seems to be doing well financially, ask them what they are doing and see if there are any openings where they work), job placement or temporary agencies are also a good place to check out.
Congratulations on knowing what you want, now go for it.

You do not pay way too much in child support, and let me tell you that if you stop working your obligation to support you children will continue. I would suggest you suck it up, try to help improve the areas of your job which you dislike (become part of the solution) and look around to find something that you'd be better suited at. You might find in your search that things aren't so bad where you currently are. Think hard about your alternatives.

I would sit down and weigh the pro's and the cons if you have more pro's suck it up, if the cons win I would go and look for another job with could it hurt. After all you may find something you like much more then what your doing now. And just think they may pay you more. Good Luck

Join the military and use some kind of birth control so you won't be paying $1000 a month in child support.

suck it up and ask for a raise. You've been there awhile and assuming you've done good work they should be obligated to give you one. If they tell you to go screw yourself, stay there but look for work elsewhere and keep it on the down low.

Well if you're in between on staying or leaving, doesn't hurt to look around, put in some resumes and see if you find any job offers you can't refuse. ; )
