Depends. most engineers are theoritcal. they have the formulas and matrices that tell them that this or that should work so they believe it to be. Applications engineers on the other hand do work both sides meaning they do the equations and alogrithms as well as see it to real life. So for the most part, engineers are bookworms. they see the world in figures and diagrams and equations. if they can find the solution to the equation then it must be valid and applicable.

oh thats an easy one,
the reason is that they have degrees but have no real world knowledge.
often what happens in the real world doesnt apply to their model secnarios and of course the opposite applies also
