During the Vietnam war, there was a long list of qualified people ahead of him. If he hadn't gotten in he most likely would have been drafted into the infantry to fight on the ground.

The man who moved him up on the list just released a book about it. He's making the talk show circuit but I cannot remember his name. Keep your ears open in the books/ media and you'll find out all the details

This is a very interesting
question;
what i'm about to say i suggest be researched:

This story involves Nixion and Llyod Benson... and Harriety Myers.

On May 27, 1968, George Bush Jr. was 12 days away from losing his student draft deferment, at a time when 350 Americans a week were dying in combat. The National Guard, seen by many as the most respectable way to avoid Vietnam, had a huge waiting list -- a year and a half in Texas, over 100,000 men nationwide.

despite Junior’s too-dumb-to-fly test scores, George Senior put in a call to the head of the Texas Air Guard via Texas Lt. Governor Ben Barnes.

the 147th, was infamous as a nesting place for politically connected and celebrity draft avoiders. Democratic Senator Lloyd Bentsen's son was in the unit,

That is where Nixon comes in, he thought Benson was going to run for President and wanted to dig up dirt on Bensons son but then realized that he would also incriminate well connected Republicans as well.
ie GW

So that is where the information begins to be protected if not destroyed.

Texas Lt. Governor Ben Barnes will later be given the contract to Run Texas's state lottery even through the GTECH (his cut was 4% of all revenue produce by GTECH)

Harriet Myers will broker and clean up the contreversy regarding the crooked deal and then later be offered the postion on the supreme court.

Lots of guys signed up for the Guard or the Navy . If he had joined the Army he would have gone to Europe. Only draftees died in Kennedy's War.

Do you remember, or are you just someone's parrot?

Clinton dodged the draft three times. What , no criticism?

The better question would be how did he not serve any time with the national guard and still expect people to fight his war.

I am sure it was due to his father being the president, there are not a lot of Presidents who had their children go into battle, they stayed close to home and worked in offices.

Are you serious?

The National Guard will accept everyone. Welcome to America my friend. It isn't a pick and choose thing.

Maybe you should make policy for France.
