My grandson is also 9 weeks and 23 inches. He's 12*14 oz. He is a big guy, but not fat, since he was 6# 15 at birth, but he's breastfeeding, and thriving.
If he's 4-6# like the "doctor" answered, there would be serious problems. 4# is considered small for a newborn, let alone a baby who is 9 weeks.
As long as he/she is healthy (and if you're concerned, contact the ped.), happy, and well loved - it's all good.
Good luck, and love that precious little one!

My daughter at 9 weeks was 23" long and weighed 10 lbs, 61/2 oz.
Every baby is different, and you shouldn't be concerned about the weight as long as they are gaining. Speak to your dr if you have concerns. . .

Normal weight (see sources section below) for a baby who is 23" long (58.5 cm.) is 10-15 lb. for girls. Average weight is 11 lb. 7 oz. to 12 lb 12 oz. Boys are (on average) 3-4 ounces heavier.
Normal or average weights based on age are more variable. For instance, normal for a girl of 9 weeks old would be 8'3"-15'6". Check the original charts for more details. (You'll have to convert from kilos to pounds; just multiply by 2.2 to do this.)
All of the above information is based on the newest, most accurate growth charts created by the World Health Organization. These are the first charts *ever* that are based on babies who are known to have been well-nourished.

My son is 8 weeks and 13 pounds. He is 22 in long. He was 8.1 when he was born and that was 2 weeks early. I think that as long as the baby is healthy there should be no concern. You should check with your ped's doctor if you are concerned.

every baby is different and it would depend upon how much the baby weighed at birth....Im going to guess that the baby was 20 inches at birth so 23 inches at 9 weeks old sounds right though.
