Once a file is burned onto a writable CD, the CD becomes un-writable. You have to buy CD-RW (re-writables) in order to burn more data after the first time. If you just used a CD-R, once you're done you're done.

If it is a MS Word type file, you will have to do a "save as" of the original read-only file from "document1" to "document2". At that point you will be able to change the file..But you will need to do the save-as back on to your hard drive (like in My Documents, for example).
Also, if you burned the file to a CD-R, the file on the disk can NEVER be changed on the the CD-R, due to the fact that w/ a CD-R you can ONLY burn once to the disk....If you have a CD-RW deck, you will be able to change the file as you use it, but ONLY if you use a RW disk....

If yu used Nero, you may have set your recording ability to DAO (Disk At Once), now you may have lost the extra space on that disc, so if you want to make another disk, be sure to change the recording specs to TAO (track At Once), which means you can record again and again till the disc is full.
Sorry if I gave you too much info.

If your CD is re-writable, right-click the file, go to properties and uncheck the read-only box.
If your CD is not re-writable, copy the file to your hard drive. Right-click the copy on the hard drive, go to properties and uncheck the read-only box.
Either way, you can now edit the file and burn it again.

Be aware there are recordable Cd's & DVD'S and Re-writable ones.
The "RW" ones can be recorded to over and over.
