Get on a good page you like, go to the top and click Tools, you'll get a drop down, click internet options at bottom, then click
"use current" for home page. Easy way if you have internet explorer, if you don't, get it loaded off microsoft page. Also, when you have time, delete all the microsoft network cookies and files.
If this does not work, which I think it will, go into control panel and disable automatic updates from microsoft. Do this manually.
