Good faith alone would have to be families that had ample resources to take care of foster children. Those kind of people generally do not care to take foster children anyway, so the chances of that is rare.
The majority of foster care parents take the children to help them but they cannot afford to house, feed and clothe them so I do not resent them getting the cash grant to help a child.
There are a few foster care parents who really do it for the money; but in the long run they are found out.
I believe that $800 a month you speak of must include food stamps and health care for the child as $800 cash grant is a little much for each child in my state (I am a state worker).
All in all, without foster care parents, many children would be left alone or deserted; or left in an abusive home and our society would have let them down. A lot of them would die.

That is a very good point! I'm sure some foster parents have all the best intentions at heart, but there are always leaches in society who prey on the weak and defenseless. 800.00 is not really very much to raise kids in todays world, it will however see to the child's base needs like food clothing whatnot if well managed. I do happen to know of one family in our town who have permanently adopted several children they first fostered. Also my aunt and her husband adopted 3 foster children they were assigned. There should be a more reliable form of monitoring this system but unfortunately it is just simply swamped. I do not think my own family would be able to foster children on good faith. It is just a very huge responsibility to take on the needs of another human being without support,-financial or otherwise.

My, my, my---I take it you've never been a foster parent, and perhaps you even have a child in foster care. I've been a foster parent to bunches of kids. Never got anywhere near $800.00 for any of them. But, guess what, foster kids gotta eat and have clothes to wear, too. And often, ya gotta take lots of time off from work running these kids (gas costs money, too) from one appointment to the other cuz they're so messed up from their lousy lives. Foster kids sometimes destroy lots of things because they have alot of anger. Nothing if free. BUT, I know alot of foster parents who have adopted kids and accepted a monthly subsidy. This bugs me. When I adopted my foster daughter, I only accepted her Medicaid as she has fetal alcohol effects and lots of other pre-existing problems so she needs good coverage, but accepting money from the government for my daugher just doesn't seem right. I also do know people who seem to spend all the money on themselves and their kids and the foster kids get their clothes all second hand, etc. That's SO WRONG! I do believe, though, that in general, people are foster parents because they truly care for kids. There are much much easier and less stressful ways to make money.

I think the children would be treated better. No one benefits except foster parents & they have no say as to how many are in foster care. I do not see how paying could effect the numbers in foster care.
