If you lived here in Chicago it would be easy, because we have the Intertribal Council which would find what Native American nation you belong to.

What I would do is go to any one of the Native American casinos in the area and ask them where do you get information on becoming a tribal member.

Also if you call yourself Indian...I seriously doubt you are. Most People I know, including myseif, are no longer Indians. we are Native Americans.

First of all do you know what nation your people come from? do you have a name or date? if you do not have any of these things going for you then do as I have done. become a dancer at your local or surrounding area pow wows and through this way you might fine out some information.

Many tribes will let you join, but some will not. Others will watch you work with them for many years, and then will ask you to join. It just depends. If you look Indian, your chances are much easier. The Cherokee are easy to join, the Lakota watch you for years first, and the Apache are very guarded, as I understand them.
