i talk to people in pakistan by yahoo messenger does that cost me extra money. i have verizon online DSL.

NO not yet, but I'm sure as the Phone companies lose revenue they will try and start charging us for VOIP services.

Why would it cost you money if messenger ads tell you that you can talk to anyone in the world for free? A little reading up on the service you signed up for would give you all the answers. You should never sign up for something without reading the instructions.

OK...if you have a mike connected to your PC, and your sund card is active (ie: the drivers are installed!!) all you need to do is activate the Messenger Voice crap in the tool bar - it wont cost you any money from any location - but if you fukup on the settings, there may be a charge on your cell fone.

If you're just using IM it doesn't, but computer-to-computer calls cost 2 cents per minute, I think.

it would only cost you if you call a landline no. if you do computer to computer it would not cost you anything
