Having worked for over 35 years and paid tax and insurance, why is it impossible to get help when I need it. I had to give up work through ill health and when I tried to find a job when I recovered, my widow's benefit was taken off the job-seeker's allowance because 'you can't have an overlapping benefit' and I was left with £6.50 as a 'job seeker's allowance"
It's like paying your salary to the bank for 35 years and then asking for some back, then being told 'sorrry, we are not giving you any back, we've given it to Jo Blogs instead. No he hasn't given us any at all so we've given him yours'. I'm not one to be on benefits if I can manage without, by using my savings. But now the savings have gone in living expenses and it's so demoralising asking for some of my contributions back.

Hi i work for a benefits agency and you really need to speak to your local benefits advisors - benefits depend on you age you can get pension credits if you are over 65 if you own your own house you may get help woth council tax and if you pay rent you may get some of that paid
i no it seems ubfair but it does all depend onwhat money you get from other sources and the savings you get

£6.50 is that all? You must be entitled to something, but the jobcentre isn't the best place to go for information like this (it should be, but isn't) Check the site below to see what you're entitled to, then goto citizens advice and check how you can go about getting what you're entitled to, Good Luck :)

If that doesn't work, I think bigpete has the answer :D
