We have a 1998 Chevy S10 which needs to have the clutch adjusted. I refuse to take it to any of the local mechanics because it is impossible to find anyone honest and we don't have much money.

Can anyone explain how to do this or point me in the direction of a good internet resource?

The Chevrolet S10 has a cable operated clutch and can be adjusted. The adjuster is under the truck near a lever extending from the left side of the bell housing which is the large round part between the rear and the engine and the front of the transmission.
It has an adjustment nut and you would turn it left to loosen or right to tighten You wan the throwout arm to have about an eighth of an inch wiggle front to back. This is the adjustment you are referring to. The clutch may be too worn to adjust. If so I can give you detailed instructions on replacing it. Make sure that when working under a vehicle you are on a flat level surface with commercial grade jack stands supporting the weight of the truck.

A 1998 S-10 SHOULD HAVE A HYDRAULIC CLUTCH
IN WHICH CASE YOU MAY BE LOW ON FLUID OR POSSIBLY HAVE A BAD SLAVE CYLINDER.AT THE VERY LEAST TRY TO FIND A MECHANIC TO CHECK THIS OUT FOR YOU

Not really much adjustment that can be done. They are hydraulic. If it is slipping it probably needs to be replaced. If it is not disengaging check the fluid. If it feels really soft (the only resistance you feel is the petal spring) the master or slave cylinder could be shot.

maximum motorcycles would be diverse till they are new. With the snatch lever no longer pulled in, the freeplay would desire to be 2-4mm on the lever's pinch component as we start to maintain on with rigidity on it. over the years the snatch plates placed on and your cable stretches. maximum cables have 3 adjustment factors. One up on the lever, one on the snatch conceal/case and each so often one is placed halfway alongside the cable's length.
