I fix desktop pcs for free for poorer families and single moms that people give to me. I also fix pcs for free that poorer people bring to me for repair.
If I can obtain a laptop I can use it to beta test software for companies who are willing to give me free software in exchange for useability information.
Since I am on a very tight disability budget, I cannot afford to buy one.

Maybe if the government didn't waste all our tax money on evil terrorist cover-ups, there'd be more welfare available for you...

Hey Jeff, your cause is a worthy one. Although I'm not sure how it would go, Acadia University in Wolfville, NS, Canada gives laptops to all of its students as part of their tutition. These laptops are owned by the school and are replaced every two years(this is the second year and are being replaced right now, I believe). They offer to sell these computers to students or other groups, but I am sure they would have older computers around( worhty enough for your cause I'm sure). You may wish to email them about this, maybe exchange advertising Acadia University for the laptop, or some other offer. I don't know if it would work, but I'm hoping for you. www.acadiau.ca
