I love mine. I have a '95 Convertible. Rides nice, good gas milage.
I think that the only complaint I have is that you just don't feel like speeding in them. I constantly find myself going below the speed limit when I drive it (and I was not an under-speeder before I bought the car). I think it has to do with the way you sit in it. It feels different than sitting in other cars. My husband says he thinks it sits more like a truck.

PT Cruiser is just the Dodge Neon with a different body on it. Saying that it is a basic dependable car cause the neon is. It will get less gas milage than the neon due to more weight being carried around.
I personally looked at them as fleet trucks for my business and was very close to buying 9 of them. They are not "trucks" and meant to haul alot of weight but would compare to a Honda CRV or so for weight carrying.
Only flaw I have seen on them is when they are new and still wrapped from the factory, the bumpers tend to get 2 toned from the sun from where the plastic wrap is and isn't. The nose being large and wide does tend to catch bugs and rock chips more easily than others as well.
I'd rate it a 8.9 on a scale of 1-10

I have the Delux edition, turbo, leather intereior, etc....love the car..very fast, rides great, very comfortable. Seats fold away to provide lots of hauling space. My only complaint is turning radius is large for the size of car...but overall, I love this car, gets pretty good milage..about 29 on the road, 23 in town. I have had no problems what so ever with the car.

I wasn't that crazy about them at first. They're still not my favorite car. But I drove a used one one time when I thought my parents were looking for a car, and I was a little surprised. It not only rode will, it had excellent brakes. I could see well around me, too, which was good. And I think the back seats fold down, so you can haul more stuff, too. It seems like a good bargain for the money, as long as they're not over-charging for it.

Mine has 120 000 on the clock and runs great.
Very versatile - tons of room inside - handles well, cheap to run (gas and spare parts) fun to drive, great seats and looks pretty cool.
The only thing that isn't good is low end performance, which I guess is "cured" with the turbo versions

My Aunt had one, and loved it. She and my Uncle collected antique cars, so they got one of the first PT cruisers.
There was a lot of room in that thing! I thought it rode well.

it has a cool look and is priced somewhat reasonably.
it has the neon drive train [not exactly a plus]
the engine compartment is very cramped labor bills will be large.
it could have been made a little larger overall
with turbo engine it may actually be fun to drive
pretty decent fuel mileage

Pregnant Batmobile. Looks like one and drives like one.
I suggest test-driving one first, and see if you like the handling. If it works for you, hey...
