Well, I am 30 wks pregnant and the baby's measurements are almost never at 30 wks, last ultrasound I was 28 wks and his head measured about 30 or 31 wks, and his legs were at 28, and some things were at 29 wks. The ultrasound machine just estimates how many weeks things are and even how far along you are, which is why they say that your due is give or take 2 weeks. It ALSO estimates the weight of the baby based on the measurements, so its possible your baby doesnt even weight 2.9 pounds. But by about 28 weeks, 2 to 2 1/2 pounds is normal weight of the fetus. My baby weighed about that at 28 wks and was in the 38 percentile of his age group (his prenatal age group that is.But If youre really concerned ask your OB doctor, but he's gonna tell you the same thing. This is my 1st child and I was worried at first too, but he told me the same thing I am telling you. Congrats and Good Luck

Babies can grow at different rates. The earlier ultra sounds are more on que with due dates but once you get into the 2nd and 3rd trimester it is just best to stick with the calandar dates if you are sure of your dates. Remember a big baby doesnt mean that the organs are developing 2 weeks a head of schedule. SO you may have measured at 29 wks but your baby was probably still 27 wks.

As pregnancy is calculated from the first day of your last period, it is always just 'assumed' that you ovulated 14 days after the start of the first day of your period. Some women ovulate earlier than that. When I went for an ultrasound and I thought I was 9 weeks pregnant, I was actually told that I was 9 weeks and 6 days along. This is because I ovulated on day 8, rather than day 14 of my cycle. Have you had an ultrasound previously?
I do have to caution you though, that only 5% of babies arrive on their actual due date. Some are born earlier, and some are born later. A doctor is never certain of the due date, which is why the letters EDD, stand for Estimated Due Date. You will always see that written next to anything with your due date on it from your doctor. At least I know I have.

Ultrasounds are just an average... which I might say are very wrong indeed.... I had an ultrasound 5 days before my son was born (because my belly measured small) and the ultrasound said he should have weighed 6 lb 14 oz then.... 5 days later when he was born the doctors guestamated he was 7 1/2... he ended up being 6 lb 2 oz... so everyone was wrong! the best way to add it up is by your last period... just count out 40 weeks from there and that should give you around your due date... although you could go earlier (as I did at 37 weeks) or go later (which would suck)...

At this point it is all just an estimate. I never measured accurately on ultrasounds or when they measured my tummy.. But when I had my babies they were both just fine and I had them according to the original due date... Bottom line be patient and get all the rest you can and enjoy your last days of sleeping through the night because soon she will be waking you up to just look into your eyes and be in your arms and trust me you will not want to miss all of those sleepless nights no matter how tired you are... ~ Best wishes.. ~ P.S. What is her name going to be? ~

your doctor will change your due date if he/she thinks it is necessary. they tend to change it if the u/s estimates it to be more then a 10 day difference. plus.....they are never 100% right. my sister's ob told her the same thing and got her all freaked out. well, my nephew was born a few days early and wasn't big at all. stop worrying and just enjoy this :)

it might be because the baby is bigger so the u/s machine adjust your due date.
I had that before on my first u/s. The due date was off by 3 weeks because the baby is bigger than normal.

Due dates are just an estimate, not written in stone. 3 pregnancies, 3 healthy babies ... only one that came on it's "due date" and only because the doctor induced labor. :)

Your dates can change. And it could be measuring wrong as well, I would talk to your doctor about it.

Sometimes the dates can change a little, the first date they give you is not always correct.
