if you don't wiegh enough your body stops ovulating, thus no period. this happens because your body needs energy to menstrate and when you loose too much wieght it does not have that energy. get yourself back up to a healthy wieght, if your doctor told you to, it is for the good of your health. besides, if you are trying to loose weight to be pretty keep in mind that too skinny is completly NOT pretty.

Perhaps the answer is to visit a dietician. While its good if you have lost weight, and providing you are now a healthy weight for you, perhaps its a case of the proper nutrition.

Also, maybe see another doctor for a second opinion.

If you don't gain weight your body won't function properly. That is why you need to gain weight. Your body doesn't want to give you your period because your body needs all of the nutrition that you need. Gain 5 pounds. I know that that seems like allot, but it will help.

He wants you to gain weight because fat cells release hormones that the body sees as sex hormones.

What this usualy means is your body is not producing enough hormones already.

You may wish to ask your doctor about going onto birth control.

weight loss will cause you to have irregular periods so don't worry it is normal if you don't want to gain weight then don't unless you are really unhealthy/underweight. try birth control pills to regulate your period and take vitamins.
