You all are so wrong, just flat up wrong.

I am a certified BMW expert and the proper slang term for BMW is Bimmer. Not Beemer, Bimer, Bemer, etc.

Just Bimmer. Americans say "beemer" even though you spell it Bimmer.

If I am wrong...then why is the top BMW magazine called Bimmer? http://bimmer-mag.com/

Leave it up to the experts to clarify all the confusion and yes, Dad does know best.....he already has walked in the foot step you are currently in.

Back in the day, sweetie BMW motorcycles were "Beemers" and BMW automobiles were "Bimmers". So many rich, coked up, small dicked idiots rushed out to buy them that the distinction got lost somewhere in the early to mid 90s.

See, daddy does know best!

If the BMW is over 15 years old it is a "Bimmer". 10 years old and under it is a "Beemer" or "B-mer"

I was always under the impression that it was spelled "Bimmer", but hey, it's slang, and not proper usage in the first place--so who cars how it's spelled?

(I'd go with Car & Driver's take on the spelling, though--theyr'e serious car people, and any Bimmer owners who notice the misspelling are sure to take offense...so they're less likely to get it wrong.)

According to Car & Driver it is Bimmer... I would have to say your dad is right. But looking on here, perhaps both are right.
